Life is such a blessing…
Last week was the epitome for me. Sure, I went to Books, Beauty & Banter in Houston and had a good time, sold some books and met some new fans, but this isn’t about that. The highlight of my week was meeting my great-granddaughter, LaVeah for the 1st time (they live in Vegas) and she wrapped me around her tiny finger. At 7 mos., she’s the size of a Butterball turkey, 21 lbs., with cheeks that resemble a chipmunk and thighs that you just want to pinch. I was struck by the magical effect holding her in my arms had on me. She’s a happy baby and we had the best time, playing ’so big’, peek-a-boo and all the other baby games I thought I’d forgotten. I held a fourth generation member of my family and it overwhelmed me. It also made me give God praise for allowing me this special time as I know there are many women who never get the chance to see their great-grandchildren. Family is a blessing, especially after the kids grow up & start their own families as long as they don’t do it too soon. No empty-nester depression for me! LOL
I’ve been blessed and I am grateful. They went home Tues. @ noon & I miss them both, but I didn’t let go until I had the promise of another visit, hopefully in August, right after LaVeah’s 1st birthday.
My granddaughter, Dru, dressed her in black & red (my signature colors) and that definitely made me a little teary. She was too cute. It was so hard to see them go.
Good night, LaVeah. G-Ma and G-Pop love you.

Children are blessings, what a special time for you.
BTW – I will be starting Ace of Hearts tonight, I am very excited
